Woman leaves friend on the side of the road after finding out she stole $800 from her account to pay for their girls trip to New Orleans: ‘She linked my card to cash-loading apps’

Talk about exploiting someone's generosity…

When I was in my early 20s and mostly unemployed, I was lucky enough to have a friend who had a lot of money and enjoyed spending it on her friends. I wasn't friends with her because of that, and I was always happy to pay for my own things, but I can't say it wasn't nice to be spoiled by her as she footed the bills at restaurants and bought some luxury presents.

I always made sure to let her know that it wasn't necessary but greatly appreciated. Never have I ever considered taking advantage of her generosity, especially not behind her back. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same thing about the woman in the story below.

This 28-year-old woman has a friend, "Kat", and the two have been close for a while, with a similar dynamic. The woman occasionally likes to spoil her friends, while Kat happily accepts.

As the two are planning a girls' trip to New Orleans, the group decided on a rule that if you can't afford to pay for the whole vacation, you can't go. No one is footing the bill for anyone while on the trip. Even though they all accepted, Kat seemed to have a different idea. She decided to take her generous friend's phone and link her card to cash loading apps. She then proceeded to use her friend's card to transfer money to herself. By the time the 28-year-old woman noticed these odd amounts missing from her account, Kat had managed to steal close to $800 from her. 

Safe to say, the friend felt betrayed and knew she had to confront Kat about it, especially before their upcoming trip. She decided to invite Kat to go shopping together, and casually dropped hints about the trouble in her bank account, yet Kat did not admit to her crimes. Eventually, while they were on their way back home, the friend finally confronted Kat head-on, only to have the confrontation end with Kat being left on the side of the road.

Is that a friendship worth keeping? I'll let you be the judges of that…
